Lancaster County Mud Sales Turns White!

So as I look outside here in Lancaster County, I see that the mud sales scheduled for this weekend in Rawlinsville and Strasburg http://www.strasburgfire.com/events.asp
may just be filled with snow instead of mud... may be better off anyway! Mudsales are a great way to hob knob with the locals; you are totally immersed into their lives. Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe Contest in Lancaster County

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE CONTEST


HELP!!!!!


Being here in Lancaster County, the baked goods are many. Having the Harvest Moon Bed and Breakfast gives me the opportunity to bake often and Chocolate chip cookies are usually the cookies of choice. However, I am tired of using the back of a "chip" bag.



I need a great Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe. I've been using the same recipe on the back of the chip bag and need a new one. My favorite cookie is that of the chocolate chip variety.


Being an Innkeeper here at the Harvest Moon Bed and Breakfast in Lancaster, I tend to have plenty of opportunity to enjoy a cookie or three. Brutal it is when someone lays a tray of fresh, hot, out of the oven, gooey cookies on the table or opens a cookie jar in front of me.


So, I decided to get my fascination with them out of the way. By indulging in none other than the Chocolate Chip Cookie. Well, with your help. We will be holding a recipe contest for the best darn chocolate chip cookies.


From now till the end of March, submit your chocolate chip cookie recipe on our event wall. We here at the Harvest Moon Bed and Breakfast will then prepare the recipes and sample them to discover which one was our favorite. From simple chocolate chip to fantasy cookies, I just can't wait to taste them all. Enter your recipe at the Harvest Moon Bed and Breakfast Event Wall on Facebook and we will take it from there.




The winner of our *Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest* will recieve a gift certificate for a *Night at the Harvest Moon Bed and Breakfast* to be used any time.

Music Friday in Lancaster

Looking for something to do this weekend in Lancaster after checking in at the Bed and Breakfast. How about heading downtown for Music Fridays. An event that comes each third Friday of the month and showcases some of the local and not so local talent. Music Fridays have live performances at many different venues throughout the city. From clubs and cabaret to intimate jazz performances, February's Music Friday has over 15 different venues to choose from. Whats more, many of the downtown shops will stay open later for the travelers to enjoy. And don't forget about the many fine restaurants downtown. One in particular Effie Ophelia's www.effieophelia.com is getting a lot of attention.

Lancaster and the Diner

So many times when finishing up on Sunday after a busy weekend at the bed and breakfast, we travel throughout Lancaster County in search of comfort food at a local diner. Don't get me wrong, I love a great meal, however there is nothing more pleaseing than a great Turkey dinner with lots of gravy.

I have found in Lancaster three diners that I enjoy going to. Now once again, this is not your fancy restaurant. However, for the kinda meal that you want to put on the sweat pants after your done eating.

As I mentioned earlier, I am a Turkey man. Love my turkey, stuffing, ( locals call it filling ) and gravy. Instead of the mash spuds that usually come with the meal, I go for french fries. Love them! Don't forget to pile on the gravy.

The three places that I go to are;

1. Lyndon City Diner ( largest of the three )

2. Jennie's Diner ( Trucker's Paradise )

3. Neptune Diner ( Downtown Lancaster )

I have to say that each one delivered. Each time going to them, I have gotten what I expected. Turkey hot, stuffing delicious, and fries smoothered in gravy.

The atmosphere inside of Jennie's and Neptune is that of a true diner. Small, crowded and loads of character. They are both perfect for an intimate conversation or a small family gathering. Lyndon City Diner is quite large however does have that flashy look and the food delivers.

I highly reccommend each one of these. Each one delivers in it's own way. So the next time in Lancaster, just ask and we'll lead the way to great comfort food.
